202 of 1001 Albums: Carole King’s Tapestry

History
Carole King’s Tapestry is one of the best selling albums worldwide, with 25 million copies sold. It received four Grammies in 1972, including one for Album of the Year. The single, “It’s Too Late”, led the Billboard at number one for five weeks. Critical acclaim was positive with many noting how strong King’s voice was on the album.

My Thoughts
King’s voice is unique, and strong. I can see why so many people are drawn to this album. The lyrical content is also appealing to many people also. Though it is labeled pop you get several other hints of other genres that appear also throughout the album too. It was also really cool to hear Carole King singing “(You Make Me Feel) A Natural Woman)” It is one of my favorites from the album, and definitely something to go back and listen to again.
