Alice is roaming the streets of what appears to be vacated Raccoon City. Not only is she a survivor though, but we find there are several others navigating the new world that a virus has made into one of the undead. Alice seems to be the only one properly equipped to deal with the outbreak, and in particular a new enemy, Nemesis who hunts the streets seeking what it considers threats.
I’m not a gamer, so I know nothing about the games, or the story. Perhaps that helps me in viewing this movie as I have nothing to compare it to, so I’m able to enjoy it more. I would consider this series one of my guilty pleasures. It doesn’t really remind me of my usual movie I’m interested in, but somehow they’ve caught me so far. Actually, anything featuring end of the world type scenarios fascinates me. This movie wasn’t as good as the first, but I believe it still held strong especially with twists.
Alice is the standout character in these films. She’s strong, she seems to know all about what to do, and all around she just maintains the viewer’s interest. The other characters run a bit bland though, and only seem to be a tool to further Alice’s story in the movie. The only other interesting character is the daughter of the man who tries to help the survivors.
I thought there were some surprising moments. It keeps the intensity throughout, and it isn’t so long that you will get tired of the story before it’s actually over. You have enough twists, and terrifying moments to keep the viewer watching. In a way I can almost see how this is based off a video game though as I felt I was wandering through one at times.
For someone who has gotten into the recent zombie thing it is an intriguing story. I’ve heard gamers not be too fond of the movie, but since I haven’t played the game I wouldn’t know that sad of it. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it’s a good movie that will entertain with popcorn if your stomach isn’t to queasy at the violence. I feel interested enough to continue on with the next one in the series.
