Art rock band, Roxy Music, debuted their first album in 1972. It reached number 10 in the U.K., and found generally good reception from critics. The album was finished with recording in a week after finding a recording place for it. The album has made the list of 40 Cosmic Rock Albums at number 31. The band has noted the album is dedicated to a woman named, Susie, who auditioned as drummer of their band during the beginning.
My Thoughts
Honestly, it’s not too much of my type of music. I don’t think I know many people who would consider this something that would appeal to their ears. I guess art rock is supposed to sound like art rock. Anyways, it’s certainly unique, so I give them credit for that. I can’t think of any particular song I liked from the album either. Each song had a different sound, but as I said it’s not really my thing. I think this will appeal to people who like very different music because it is very different with “Chance Meeting” being one of the more memorable strange ones. The positive is that “Would You Believe?” is the one redeeming song on the album.
