258 of 1001 Albums: T.Rex’s The Slider

History
T.Rex continued their journey into glam rock, and away from the folk sound with their seventh album, Slider. It peaked at number four on the U.K. charts, and it got to number seventeen on the Billboard’s Top LPs, and Tapes chart. Critical acclaim was overwhelmingly good for the album with it being viewed as a classic as much as the previous album released prior to it.
My Thoughts
So far so good. I’m liking T.Rex. The sound is just way too cool. I’m also intrigued to find these guys were once folk rock. Those albums don’t appear on the list, but I think I’m going to have to check them out. It seems like glam rock is a little leap over away from folk rock. This album doesn’t disappoint though. I’m not sure I like it as much as the previous album, but I think they keep the core of their sound in tact. It’s like they are able to mix it up, and do something different, but also keep the root of their glam rock sound the same.
